Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings, and blessings to you! Our Catholic faith continues to impel us to keep moving forward in charity and mercy. The Catholic League for Religious Assistance to Poland and Polonia (Liga) also continues its mission to help the Church in Poland and our brothers and sisters in faith who now call America their home. Thanks to generous donations, with the help of our pastors, moderators and volunteers, the Liga fulfills its commitments.
My dear Brothers and Sisters, I also wish to share with you the good news, that the Saint John Paul the Great scholarships for priests studying in Rome and young college students of Polonia in the U.S. are affecting current recipients and future generations. As the Catholic family community, we must ensure that our young people will have the best education and formation to be leaders in our parishes, in our dioceses and in our nation. In the past six years, we have awarded 102 scholarships of $5,000 for a total of $510,000.
Please respond generously as your parish takes the annual collection or visit our website at www.catholicleaguepolonia.org where you will be able to give directly to the Liga by selecting the “Donate” button. Visit our website often since it contains so much more great news to share with your family and friends.
As always, I entrust to our patroness, Our Lady of Czestochowa, and to St. John Paul the Great, our common efforts in this year’s national collection to allow us to transform and spiritually enrich the people of faith in our communities. May the Blessed Mother of God intercede for us to her Son, to bless us with gifts of strong faith, true pride of our heritage, and humble gratitude for the legacy of centuries of Polish priests, patriots, and devoted parishioners.
May St. John Paul the Great constantly inspire and challenge us and our young families and youth to greatness, always with love and a spirit of service. With Christ’s blessing, let us together continue to do all for the greater glory of God. I thank you for your attention and your generous hearts.
In Christ,
Most Reverend Andrew P. Wypych, D.D.
Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago
